Graham is ONE!

One year ago today, Brent and I spent the day at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, Kentucky awaiting the birth of our second son, Graham. It was a long day of waiting for contractions to strengthen and for the baby to drop into the birth canal as the pitocin was supposed to do its work. Finally, at 5:16 pm, our 9 lb, 11 oz and 21 inch long baby was born. Our life changed in dramatic ways for the better.

Graham spent his first birthday with his friends at daycare where he has enjoyed much of his time since he was 3 months old. He loves to play with his friends who have encouraged him to sit up, crawl, and now work on standing up. Colton is the friend he loves playing with the most and they "share" toys regularly.

Our baby boy eats three meals a day and just traded over from formula to whole milk in the last week. For breakfast he usually eats rice cereal with fruit in it. For lunch he devours fruits, vegetables, and breads that are cut up into small bits which are the same as the lunch that Oliver enjoys. For dinner Graham usually enjoys the same thing as us, though sometimes he eats baby food in order to finish off what is in the freezer. His favorite snacks are animal crackers and baby cookies.

Sleep is still something Graham does well. He snoozes from around 7:00 at night until 7:00 in the morning and will go longer if possible on the weekends. Naps last anywhere from an hour and a half to three hours; the longer ones are usually at home.

As for movement, Graham decided two weeks ago that he was finally ready to crawl. He'd been rolling everywhere to that point. When he realized how much faster it is to crawl, he was off! Now he's fast and can get from one room to the next in a matter of seconds. Though he's working on pulling up, and probably could do it on his own, he only gets up to his knees. We are thinking that once he moves to the one year old room where the other kids are walking then he will pick up on it too.

Graham's favorite toys are those that he can put balls or blocks inside of something else. For his birthday he was given a ball cage and toy with flaps that open and close from grandparents. He absolutely loves both of them! He's quite a busy boy and very determined. For instance, when he's ready to go from one room to the next there is nothing that can stop him - even if we move him back to the original spot where we want him!

Oliver and Graham are great brothers! They make each other laugh regularly, which in turn makes everyone around them smile. We love our boys so much and  can't imagine our lives without them. We are blessed beyond measure for sure.
