On Tuesday night Brent walked in from work and immediately began complaining of feeling dizzy. His temperature was down to 96.5 and he could not move his eyes without feeling like he was going to fall over. He could also not walk more than 3 steps without holding onto something. He quickly went to bed, hoping it would subside. Within an hour we called his oncologist and spoke with the on-call doctor. She recommended he go to the emergency room. Our friend April came over as soon as she could get here to be with the kids, who were both sleeping. Our 5 hour hospital stay revealed that Brent had vertigo. He was given medicine and a recommendation of resting as much as possible for the next 48 hours. It was a scary time!
The good news from the scare was that the blood work, EKG, and chest x-ray all came completely normal. Blood levels that have been way off since diagnosis in January were in the normal range! This was a huge answer to prayer!
On Friday Brent visited Dr. Sapp, his normal oncologist. After telling her of the situation earlier in the week she said it was most likely not directly related to the chemotherapy medication, but could have been triggered by the cold he had the week before. She also determined that in order to fight his cancer head-on that he needed to go back to the 140 mg of Sprycel. This was slightly discouraging for Brent because we had hopes that he's eventually get to a very low dosage. It sounds like that will not be happening any time soon.
God is good and He is taking care of us! We are thankful!
