June 30: Lorraine

Lorraine Griffith is one of the reasons I am successful in my career. She was my Reading and Literature Methods professor at UNCA during my undergraduate studies. Because of her I understand the importance of research in education, ways to increase reading fluency, the importance of student talk, and having confidence as an educator. Due to her spending a week in Cincinnati for a conference, I was able to have breakfast with her on Friday morning. It was amazing to catch up and share about our lives within the last 14 years. She also shared with me about the work she is doing now. It was very exciting!
